Choose Friendship at Work
Through Donor Choice "Donor choice" means exactly what it says … as a donor your have the right to choose who will benefit from your workplace campaign gift. If your company does not allow donor choice, please ask them to consider making it an option for future campaigns. If you work for the federal or state government or if your workplace participates in a United Way campaign, you can designate all or part of your gift to Friendship Ventures, which will appear in one of three ways in the campaign brochure:

1. Friendship Ventures: The parent agency that oversees all services and programs, and operates Camp Friendship and Eden Wood Center.

2. Children's Disability Service Association: A nationally recognized division of Friendship Ventures that supports services for children with disabilities. Your donation will be put to immediate use helping our most needy and impoverished children.

3. Friendship Foundation:
An endowment foundation that exclusively supports Friendship Ventures. If you have friends or relatives who work for the federal or state government, or in corporations that allow "donor choice", encourage them to support Friendship Ventures.

Invest in the Future of Friendship
Friendship Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that encourages and manages planned charitable gifts on behalf of Friendship Ventures. Since its inception in 1992, the Foundation has secured approximately $750,000 in endowed funds.

With the guidance of certified financial and legal advisors, the Foundation has developed several charitable giving options for those who want to support the future of Friendship Ventures, including charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts and pooled income funds. These options allow you to invest in the future of Friendship Ventures, while getting personal satisfaction from your gift during your lifetime. You may also be able to earn income, an immediate tax deduction and financial benefits related to inheritance and capital gains taxes.

You can also support the Foundation through Bequest Gifts of life insurance and/or gifts of assets. Contact us to find out more about the Friendship Foundation and planned charitable giving.

Options for Charitable Giving
A charitable gift annuity pays you and other beneficiaries a fixed annual income for life based on your ages and the amount of the gift. Friendship Foundation receives the remainder of the annuity when all beneficiaries are deceased.

  • A pooled income fund is a trust that pools your gift with those from other donors. Friendship Foundation manages the fund, receives the principal, and pays life-income interest based on an annual rate of return the fund earns.
  • A charitable remainder trust provides regularly scheduled payments to you, your spouse, or someone else, for life or a specified number of years. As the designated beneficiary, Friendship Foundation receives all the remaining funds at the end of that period. Assets can be used to establish gift annuities, remainder trusts, or pooled income funds - or can be given outright to Friendship Foundation.
  • Assets suitable for charitable gifts can include stocks and bonds, life insurance policies, residential or commercial property, and highly appreciated assets such as vintage cars or antiques.
  • A testamentary bequest in a will is one of the easiest planned gifts to arrange. You can also use a bequest to establish a lasting memorial to someone you wish to honor. You can name Friendship Foundation or Friendship Ventures as the beneficiary of all or a portion of your life insurance policy.
