Resident Camp Programs:

Throughout the summer, Friendship Ventures operates resident camp programs at Camp Friendship near Annandale, MN, (approximately 60 miles northwest of Minneapolis), Eden Wood Center in Eden Prairie, MN, a suburb of Minneapolis, and Camp New Hope, near McGregor, MN. These programs are designed for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
Camp is held each week (Sunday through Friday), June through August. Most resident camp staff members are required to live on site and receive a weekly salary; room and board is provided. Unless otherwise noted, positions are available at all three camps.
All staff must be willing and able to meet the direct-care and recreational needs of participants, be able to lift at least 40 lbs, be physically and emotionally strong, and work well with others.
Leadership positions are marked with an asterisk (*). These positions require at least two years of college or practical experience in the area of developmental disabilities and previous camp employment; excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills are necessary; CPR and First Aid Certification are helpful. You must also hold a valid U.S. driver's license and have a good driving record.

| Counselor |
Supports vacationers with activities, socially and with personal care to
ensure a quality experience for all. Must be able and willing to meet the direct-care and
recreational needs of participants; be physically strong and mentally
alert; work well with others and enjoy helping others.

Prefer student majoring in recreation, physical education or
therapeutic recreation; experience planning and leading recreation
activities. Will plan/lead recreational activities for children/adults
of all ability levels. Assists with direct care.

Plans and prepares overnight campouts and maintains equipment.
Requires strong background in camping; knowledge of camping gear and its
care. Organizational skills needed. Assists with direct care.

Plan and lead day trips, manage budget. Organizational,
leadership and travel skills important. Must be at least 21 years of age
with a valid U.S. driver's license and good driving record. Participates
in leading all camp and village activities.

Assists with direct care and adapts activities to their individual
needs; ensures a quality experience for all participants. Usually a high
school student, age 16-18. Must be able and willing to meet the
direct-care and recreational needs of participants; be physically strong

Lifeguard

Guards in various environments; cleans and maintains waterfront
facilities; assists with boating and other waterfront activities;
assists with direct care. Must have current lifeguard and CPR
certifications. WSI and first-aid certifications helpful. Participates
in leading all camp and village activities.

is helpful. Participates in leading all camp and village
activities.

Plans, organizes and leads special interest sessions in all program
areas. Must be creative, flexible and organized. Assists with

Works the
day to day operations of the Canteen, which includes sales, record
keeping, inventory management, organization and cleanliness of store.
Prefer student in sales with financial skills. Assist with direct

Take cabin
and activity photos. Responsible for recording video tape of
activities and campers. Write daily newsletter and staff/volunteer
