Animals & More

I ♥ Critters
Animals are wonderful Critters!  Spend time caring for the camp farm animals.  A trip to Earth Way Farms will be a highlight of this session to learn from their farm specialists about goats, sheep, pigs and other farm activities.

Horseback Riding

If you love horses, these sessions are for you!  You'll learn basic riding fundamentals and how to feed, groom, saddle a horse and of course ride!  These sessions are offered in cooperation with local riding programs that specialize in working with children and adults with disabilities.  Riders will be at the farm and with the horses two mornings during the camp session.  Experienced riding teachers will provide instruction while our staff provides supervision and support.  Limited space avaliable.

**Information for participation:

~A physical must approve the camper for riding.  (Certain medical and physical conditions may limit participation.  Call if you have questions.)

~Riders must be able to sit independently

~Riders may not weight over 180 pounds

~Additional screening and release forms are required to be completed and returned to our office at least two weeks prior to the first day of the session to assure a quality experience; if not received, the camper will not be able to participate.

Arts & the Creative You

Are you interested in artistic expression?  If so, enjoy a week of drama, dance, creative arts and crafts at Camp Friendship, Eden Wood or Camp New Hope this summer.  The enjoyment comes from personal involvement; the reward is having the opportunity to express yourself through your handiwork. Discover the imaginative you in one of the following sessions.

Crafting Corner

Do you want more time in the Arts and Crafts area?  Create more art on the easel, build a new craft with clay, or bring home a new tie-dyed t-shirt to show off your artistic skill at home.  This session is for all those campers who crave more time to create.

Razzle Dazzle Jewelry

Use many new and imaginative techniques to make your necklace or bracelet.  Jazz it up with attractive beads.  Bedazzle yourself with a new creation of jewelry and take it home to show off your fashionable design.

Friendship Art Studio
Perfect for the budding artist.  Create cool art projects...dabble in watercolors, mosaics, splatter paints, and chalk art.  Display your work in the Friendship Art Gallery at the end of the week.

Learn the fabulous art of fabric design at our Shirt "Tales" session!  Our staff will teach you about fabric painting, tie-dyeing, stenciling and more.  Try your hand at leatherwork, too.

Fishing

Learn the art of fishing at Camp Friendship. These sessions give you plenty of time to fish for sunfish, crappie, bass and more at local lakes.  Learn to bait a hook, cast, and master other fishing basics and more.  Please refer to session schedule for levels.

Music, Singing & Dancing

All three camps will be alive with the sound of music this summer, and you can be part of it! Experience music through singing, playing instruments and dancing.

Movin' & Groovin'/Dance Fever/Everybody Dance Now
Just got to get up and dance!  If you love to dance to a wide variety of music then these sessions are for you.  Well play today's rock, oldies and a little country for those two steppers.  Learn line dancing and a country western two step.  Perform at the camp talent show.

For the experienced vocalist or anyone who enjoys singing, this will be a creative and fun experience.  Share your love of music while singing old favorites or learning new songs.  Perform at the camp talent show.

Outdoor Fun and More!

Sports Sampler/Sports Fan

Come on, come all sports fans!  This is your chance to learn and participate in a variety of recreation activities.  Besides learning about many different sports, you will also take in a Twins baseball game.  Prepare to be energized and ready for some fun!

Speed Stacking

It's the latest craze at camp!  With your own set of cups learn the art of speed stack.  Learn the 3-6-3 cycle to get started, increase your speed, hand-eye coordination, self confidence and good sportsmanship.  All ages love speed stack.

Backpackers & Geocaching

Let's check the coordinates, get our GPS and head over to Savannah Portage State Park to enjoy the miles of trails and find the caches.  Participants should enjoy hiking up to 3 miles a day.

Let's Do Legos

Activate the builder in you with legos.  Dozens of different projects will inspire you while having loads of fun.  Emphasis is placed on hands-on experiential activities.

Down Syndrome Camp

These sessions offer quality time for kids and adults with Down Syndrome.  Help plan your own schedule with activities on the lake such as swimming, boating, canoeing, fishing, as well as biking, art, music, archery and more.

Water Fun

The Big Splash
A celebration for those who love water, water sports, and water games. This week will provide lots of water fun including swimming, canoeing, paddle boats, fishing, a beach party, and Eden Wood's famous water carnival. Visit a water park...make sure to pack your swimsuit and towel.

Friendship Getaways

Friendship Getaways is a new opportunity this summer offered at Camp New Hope and Camp Friendship and is designed for the person who is looking for a vacation where they can make new friends and choose activities that are interesting to them.  Activities are designed to support independence with assistance from counselors and other staff and may include fishing, biking, enjoying games, movies, Wii Fit tournaments and more.
