"... I had a little boy (in the cabin) who was so different than the others, he was the youngest and he cried himself to sleep every night and didn't seem to have fun all week. I would tuck him in every night and rub his back until he fell asleep. Well the last day of camp came (I tell you it was a week that I will never forget) and my little boy who cried every night was getting ready to get into the van with the other kids. He came running to me, gave me a big hug and started crying, telling me that he did not want to leave. I cried too, he was so sweet; he left a footprint on my heart that will never be forgotten...
...People always say, 'It takes a lot for a person to do that kind of work', I just look at them and laugh, and say, 'what kind of work - swimming, bowling, arts and crafts?' I think that is the best kind of work...
... 'It takes a moment to change someone's life, but a lifetime to forget.' This is a quote I try to live by."
~ Missy (volunteer)

Youth Leadership Program.

Job Description.
(What type of things will youth volunteers be doing?)

Youth Volunteers work directly with the agency’s staff. If you have never had the opportunity to go to camp-now is your chance! Depending on the time of year, you could assist participants with involvement in different areas such as swimming, arts & crafts, music, nature study, sliding, skiing, and other typical camp activities.

Volunteers may also have the opportunity to assist some of our participants with their daily activities. This may include such things as helping a participant engage in an activity, helping during meal times, assisting with cabin clean-up, or helping someone walk from one place to the next. It is the individual attention that a volunteer can provide that really makes a difference.

Church and Service Groups.

Camp Friendship is always looking for youth groups to volunteer together. If you are a youth leader, it’s a perfect opportunity for your teens to have fellowship while serving the community. All groups stay together in one cabin (the Volunteer House) and break off during the day to volunteer. So, if you are looking for a fun retreat for your group as well as a chance to show the importance of volunteerism, contact us! Space is reserved on a first come first served basis.
