One group’s volunteer experience

St. David’s Episcopal Church recently participated in a mission trip to Camp Friendship. The following note from their youth minister shows that our participants are not the only ones who benefit:

I must admit that when we arrived on Sunday morning I was more than a little nervous about the coming week, but when we drove away on Friday one of my students said, “Dave, we have to come back!" I would personally like to write to you about your staff at Camp Friendship.  Three words, “they are great!” Your counselors are doing the noblest of things they can do by serving others.  Watching them “minister” to the campers during the day light and hearing their stories from what happened during the night (i.e., getting up at 3 a.m. and laughing and smiling about it) reminds me of a quote from Albert Schweitzer which states, “Life becomes harder for us when we live for others, but it also becomes richer and happier. CF brings sunshine into the lives of its campers and their caregivers.  All who work/minister at CF will be successful, because a definition of a successful life includes serving others.
